Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior representative said the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
